About me... Aug 2017
I am a certified introductory Iyengar Yoga teacher with 4 years teacher training experience and 8 years total Iyengar Yoga practice. I practice regularly with junior intermediate 3 level and senior level 3 Iyengar yoga teachers. I have spent time in India and these experiences have enhanced my Yoga understanding and practice.
I value the stillness of mind experienced through opening, extension and alignment of my body and breath through when I practice Yoga. Yoga gives me a general sense of well being along with physical and psychological benefits also
On a day to day basis, I am mum to a toddler and live with my husband, dog and cat in Steyning. I have a full time job so naturally I fit my yoga practice around my life commitments.
It is a pleasure to be able to pass on what I have learnt on my yoga journey so far and I hope to see you in a class soon
A testimonial...from me!
I was initially drawn to yoga in my 20's as a means of keeping fit I tried many other yoga styles for the first couple of years but I struggled... I thought I had to 'keep up' and force myself into yoga poses. I had limited self awareness and eventually I tore the meniscus of my knee.
At that point I realised I wasn't doing Yoga correctly at all...
BKS Iyengars classic Light on Yoga text was everywhere. Pretty much every yoga class that I attended had a copy in their book shelves... I knew it was well revered and considered a definitive guide so I got myself a copy and starting reading. Soon after that I realised that Iyengar Yoga teachers and classes were readily available and attended a class. From the first class, the teacher knew how to accommodate my injury and over the weeks and months, she helped me develop a yoga practice that worked for me. I gained more strength and flexibility and my practice since then has been constantly evolving.
