Why yoga?

Yoga is a group of physical, mental and spiritual practices originating in ancient India. The word yoga means ‘union’. Practicing postures and breathing with awareness develops harmony; which unites the mind, body and spirit. Yoga will help develop flexibility, strength and general wellbeing

What is Iyengar yoga?

Iyengar yoga is named after BKS Iyengar who played a fundamental role in bringing yoga to the West. His teaching is a very approachable and practical method of pursuing yoga. The Iyengar method makes yoga safe and accessible to people of all ages, abilities and levels of fitness. The teaching focuses on correct alignment of the body in all yoga poses and this is so to gain maximum benefit of strength, flexibility and wellbeing.

The certified training for Iyengar yoga teachers takes years of study and ongoing rigorous assessment. All teachers of Iyengar yoga are fully insured. The Iyengar yoga Certification Mark was introduced in 2004 for all those trained to teach the Iyengar method of yoga. It is a guarantee of excellence, clarity and depth of understanding
